Dr. Götz Kaufmann graduated in political science (2003) and obtained a doctoral degree in environmental sociology (2012). He has held professional research posts in Brazil, Argentina, Australia, Israel, and Canada dealing in areas such as globalization, political economy, political ecology, environmental justice, sustainable development, and climate change. His overall field of expertise is methods. He is the founder of the Environmental Justice Institute (EJI) and was leading (2013-2015) the research team of his postdoc project CC-VISAGES, which is located at the EJI. Dr. Kaufmann worked as lecturer at the Environmental Policy Research Centre (FFU) teaching courses on environmental justice, social movements, and environmental policy in Brazil, Germany, and Canada. He is currently a visiting lecturer at the institute for political science of Phillips University of Marburg where he is doing a secondary study program in didactics and anglophone studies. On behalf of the EJI, he run synchronous e-lectures with students and guest lecturers from around the world like the one in winter term 2017 on environmental justice and sustainable development. His extended research interests deals with corporate social responsibility and sustainability in the context of the new Trumpism in the world (Le Pen in France, BREXIT, new POTUS, AfD in Germany, and the like).
